Costa Lazaridi
Costas Lazaridis’ passion for wine and winemaking led to the creation of the renowned Wine Museum-Costa Lazaridi in Kapandriti, Attica. Since opening its doors in 2011, it has become a landmark destination for wine lovers and curious minds alike. The collection, personally curated by Costas Lazaridis, features many tools, wine openers and rare artifacts he has discover around the world.
History
During a 45-to-60-minute guided tour, visitors embark on a journey through the rich history and culture of wine. From ancient pressing techniques and the sacred role of Dionysus in Greek tradition to contemporary viticulture and vinification practices, the exhibits reveal the deep roots of wine in human civilization. Guests can explore the region’s soils and native grape varieties, learn the art of distillation, and step inside the Aceto room to discover the secrets of balsamic vinegar production. The museum also highlights the craft of barrel-making, the evolution of cork, and the history of wine trade, featuring amphorae, shipping methods, and other fascinating artifacts.
Cellars
A visit to the museum’s cellars offers a rare glimpse into the aging process, where wines mature gracefully, showing how time, temperature, and technique shape their character. Every corner of the museum tells a story, connecting past traditions with the artistry of modern winemaking and invites you to the fascinating world of wine.
Wine Tasting
Complete your visit with a curated wine tasting, overlooking the garden. With the tour still fresh in mind, you’ll experience the wines more deeply- understanding their aromas, variety, and story behind each label in a whole new way.
