Amethystos, the first wine family of our estate, became a true brand in its own right- a symbol of Greek wine both at home and abroad. Named after the violet quartz (Amethyst) that, according to myth, protects its bearer from drunkness. In 1991, Costas Lazaridis envisioned a blend no one had dared before Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko. The result was Amethystos Blanc, the wine that would shape the identity of Drama, as the “blend of Drama”, and inspire a whole new style.Each wine in the Amethystos family is a reflection of Costa Lazaridi’s pioneering spirit – crafted to inspire, to surprise, and to last in time.
